Miss Laura Catherine Kleppinger, 65, died in her home, 929 S. 17th Ave., early today after a prolonged illness. She suffered from a heart condition.
Miss Kleppinger was born in Republic County, Kansas, May 21, 1887, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen A. Kleppinger. She came to Stephenson County with her parents when a small child.
She was educated in Freeport and Cedarville public schools, Brown's Business College and Northwestern University.
For 45 years she was employed as a bookkeeper having worked in the offices of Stukenberg & Borchers, Johnson Oil Company, Ling & Secker and Gund Graham Company. She also worked in Washington, D.C., during World War I.
Surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Virgie and LeRoy Kleppinger, with whom she lived; Mrs. Geneva Althoff of Freeport; Allen S. Kleppinger of Western Springs, Ill. Her parents and a brother Earl died previously.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Rebekah Lodge and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was treasurer of the latter organization.
Funeral service will be held in First Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. Monday, Rev. Charles F. Landwere will officiate. Interment will be made in Oakland Cemetery.
