Chico Enterprise Record, Sunday, March 28, 1970, pg 2A, col 5: E.E. Beers. Elmer E. Beers, 84, of 129 Durham St., Durham, died Friday at a local hospital. He was born June 4, 1886, in Waverly, Kan.
Beers received his education in Longton, Kan., and married Blanche L. Moor [sic: Morris] in Kansas 58 years ago. He and his wife came to California in 1930 and settled in Gridley. Retiring in 1944 and moving to Durham, Beers worked for the state Division of Highways in Gridley.
Survivors include his widow, Blanche of Durham; three sons, Dallas and Dale of Durham and Ala of Carmichael; a brother, Carl of Durham; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Brusie Funeral Home with the Rev. David A. Kelly of the Durham Community Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Peace at Glen Oaks Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Donald Beers, Mike Beers, Timothy Beers, Elmer Beers, Duane Beers and Warren Bowden. Contributions may be made to the Heart Fund, 1224 Mangrove.
