Van B. Abel, 79, died on Sunday, November 3rd, at 7:38 a.m. at his residence, after a lengthy illness. He was a Quality Control Supervisor at York International, retiring in 1984 where he was also a member of the 25 Year Club. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in East Prospect, Stewartstown American Legion Post #455, Hellam VFW; Post #1445, the Firemen's Association, and a former member of the East Prospect Fire Company. He was a WWII Navy Veteran.

Born in East Prospect, PA on June 12, 1923. He was the son of the late V. Chester and Verna C. (Hannigan) Abel. Mary E. (Stephenson) Abel of East Prospect, to whom he was married on June 21, 1947. He is survived by one son, V. Rick Abel of York; one daughter, Charlotte L. Miller of Stewartstown; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Iris Hivner of Dallastown, PA; and one niece.
