Mrs. Cora Elizabeth Vickery, 89, of Florence, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, after an extended illness. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Petersville Church of Christ, with Sonny Owens and Greg Balentine officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour before services. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Vickery was born in Wayne County, Tenn., and was a member of Petersville Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lee Vickery; parents, Charlie and America Bevis; sisters, Geneva Reaves and Bertha Balentine; brother, Clyde Bevis, and infant brother, John Daniel Bevis; and niece, Martha Dodd.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Vickery (Donna), Muscle Shoals; daughter, Linda Balentine (Lendon), Florence; grandchildren, Lori Ray (Jeremy), Savannah Vickery, Beth Burns (Michael) and Greg Balentine (Jackie); great-grandchildren, Leighana Ray, Ken and Nathan Balentine, Dustin, Drew, Lindsey and Bryson Burns.
Pallbearers will be Michael Burns, Jeremy Ray, Dustin and Drew Burns, Nathan Balentine and Walden Vickery. Honorary pallbearer will be Bryson Burns.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , PO Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148-0552.
