C.D. McKeehan, 73, died of a heart attack.

Services were held at the Methodist church with Rev. Uel D. Crosby, pastor and Rev. W.J. Screen officiating.

Mr. McKeehan was one of Seymour's pioneer citizens and grew up here as a member of the highly respected R.R. McKeehan family. Claude Dishman McKeehan attended school at Jacksboro and Seymour, where the family moved in 1884. After completing his schooling, Claude worked at various jobs, including spending time in his father's dry goods and grocery store. He became a brakeman and expressman on the Wichita Valley railroad for 25 years. Then he started wiring houses wehre electricity was put in here and he worked as an electrician ever since.

C.D. McKeehan married Miss Betty Lunsford on 4 January 1899. She preceded him in death.

C.D. McKeehan married Mrs. Nadine Lankford in 1923. She preceded him in death.

His parents left Seymour in 1903 for Siloam Springs, Arkansas where they lived until their death. They died within 26 days of each other.

Survived by three sistes - Mrs. S. Gorman, Mrs. Regina Gorman and Mrs. Lydia Pifer; one brother - Bob McKeehan.

C.D. McKeehan was a member of the Knights of Pythias in Seymour until they disbanded. He helped organize the first volunteer fire department in Seymour and was chief for a number of years. He was a faithful member of the Methodist Church. Mr. McKeehan had a remarkable memory for events of the early days. He was a friend to his fellow man and always had a ready smile.
