Born in Cripple Creek, VA, he was the son of the late Ellis Pierce Nuckols [Nuckolls] and Mary Sawyers Nuckols
Mr. Nuckols was a member of Marvin's Chapel United Methodist Church. As of April 2008, he was a 60-year member of the IBEW of Blountville. He retired from the Johnson City Power Board in 1981.
Known as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he loved to camp, fish and hunt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles "Charlie" Nuckols; and three brothers, Charlie, James and Earnest Nuckols [Nuckolls].
He is survived by his wife of over 63 years of marriage, Lucille Wright Nuckols, of Jonesborough; two daughters, Peggy Solomon and husband, John of Mosheim; Lynne Deakins and husband, Keith, of Gray; five sons, Randy Nuckols and wife, Carolyn, of Harrison, Danny Nuckols and wife, Beverly, of Gray, Gary Nuckols and wife, Regina, of Chuckey, Eddie Nuckols and wife, Barbara, of Jonesborough, and Tim Nuckols, of Johnson City; one sister: Laura Lowe, of Forest, VA; brother, Joseph Nuckols, of Woodstock, GA; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Sunday at 6 p.m. in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Pastor Dennis Ford and Pastor Rick Clowers officiating.
The family received friends from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service.
A graveside service was held on Monday at 1 p.m. in Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were sons and grandsons of Mr. Nuckols.
Everyone was asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marvin's Chapel United Methodist Church.
