Mr. Tax was born in Germany, Sept. 22, 1833. He came to this country at the age of 21 years and settled on a farm in the town of Wilson, Sheboygan County. A few years later he was married to Francisca Rademacher, who preceded him in death March 26, 1905.
Twelve children were born to them, 4 of whom are living as follows; Mrs. H. Klein, New Holstein; Engelbert Tax, Sheboygan Falls; Mrs. A. Reininger, town of Woodville and Mrs. Gottlieb Grasse, Sheboygan.
Mr. Tax was a Civil War veteran, serving with company K in the last 20 months of the war.
He had as his pallbearers boys of the American Legion and the casket was draped with a large American flay that he fought so valiantly for.
The funeral services were conducted at the Holy Rosary Church on Friday morning, Rev. M. Kuborn officiating, burial taking place in St. Peter Claver cemetery at Sheboygan. The American Legion and W.R.C. attended the funeral.
