William "Billy" Cromer Attaway, 63, of 107 Crepe Myrtle Circle, husband of Betty Mae Motes Attaway, died June 19, 1998, at the VA Medical Center in Columbia. Born in Saluda County, he was a son of Elease Cromer Attaway Webb and the late William Calvin Attaway. He was a retired US Air Force veteran of 26 years having served in Vietnam. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother and stepfather of Saluda; two daughters, Tammy Fossell of Lexington and Debra Lancto of Brandon, Fla.; a son, Michael Attaway of Columbia; a sister, Jean A. Rikard of Saluda; eight grandchildren. Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Building Fund, Route 2, Saluda, 29138. Ramey Funeral Home is in charge.
