"Rhode Island MM [monthly meeting] marriage records show 6th Mo. 4, 1807, Matthew Barker, son of Matthew & Mary, married Ruth Anthony, daughter of Daniel and Amy Anthony. [Her husband] said that he thinks Mrs. Yount may have used a Wayne County history, among other records, to supplement her tombstone records. In that history there was a biographical article about this couple that made reference to a maternal ancestor of Mrs. Barker whose last name was Sherman. Mrs. Yount apparently assumed (erroneously, as it turned out) that the maternal ancestor had the same last name as Mrs. Barker before her marriage."
