Anna Rohla, daughter of Frank and Mary (Jess) Bures, was born August 7, 1894, in a farm house south of Exeter in Fillmore County. She passed away at Fillmore County hospital, July 6, 1983, at the age of 88 years.
She received her education in District 25 and later moved east of Geneva, and went to District 3. She helped with the work in the field and with housework at home.
She was the oldest of nine children.
In 1915, she was united in marriage to Frank B. Rohla of Geneva. To this union were born two children; a son, Frank C., and a daughter, Mildred.
She and her husband farmed for many years east of Geneva and then later moved to their present home in Geneva in 1950. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1965.
On September 14, 1982, she fell and broke her hip and was in the hospital for some time. She needed extra care and entered Heritage of Geneva, October 12, 1982, where she received loving care.
She was a kind and loving mother. She was a hard worker and always willing to help neighbors and friends. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived, sharing her knowledge and experience with her family. She will be sadly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; her son, Frank C. Rohla of Ventura, Ca., in 1983; also three brothers, John Bures, George Bures, Ed Bures; and four sisters, Helen Sluka, Josephine Kuttler, Agnes Schmidt and Lillian Prybl.
She is survived by her only daughter, Mildred Reinsch of Geneva; one sister, Alice Weis of Grand Island; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Rohla of Ventura, Ca.; four grandchildren, Scott Reinsch, Larry Domling and wife Ann, Fred Domling and Pam, and Michael Rohla and wife Cindy of Arroyo Grand, Ca.; seven great-grandchildren, Debbie , Vicky and Susan Domling; Ashley and Lesley Domling; Christina and Matthew Rohla of Arroyo Grand, Ca.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted, Saturday, July 9, from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Charles Schepel officiating.
Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Curt Prater, who snag "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery south of Milligan.
Those serving as pallbearers were Henry J. Rhola, Dennis Schmidt, Roger Schmidt, Ervin Sluka, Edward Srajhans and Harry Styskal.
