A. P. Martin.
Mr. A. P. Martin, who has been quite ill for some time, passed away Monday evening about 8 o'clock at his home in Nevada. For the past four or five years he has been suffering with heart trouble, gradually growing weaker and weaker until at last the end came. For over half a century he has lived in this community as he was born in Nevada township just a little east of his late home. He has always taken a keen interest in the welfare and the upbuilding of the community. He was one of the incorporators of the Otter Creek Creamery Association and for 20 years served on the board of directors. He served a number of years as a member of the Township board and as director of the school district. He always gave liberally of his time for the good of those who were to come after him. He was a kind, patriotic citizen and the community has lost a useful and loyal neighbor.
The deceased was born in Nevada township October 21, 1856, and for 26 years has lived on the place where he died. His father still lives, residing at Wilbur, Washington. He also leaves a widow, two brothers, Martin P. Martin of the Rose Creek neighborhood and John Martin of Yelm, Washington, and a sister, Mrs. Jorgenson of Nevada township. The children are: Mrs. Olaves Meyer of Roshold, S. D., Mrs. Alfred Ostenson, Nevada, G. A. Martin of this place, and Phillip and Melvin at home. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon. --Lyle Tribune.
