Mrs. Mary Reiff Died This Morning


Passed Away At Home Of Her Son, George, At Age Of 87.


Mrs. Mary Reiff, aged eighty-seven, died at 8:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her son, George Reiff, at 1124 West South street. Her death was due to the weakenesess of old age. She has been in feeble health for several years.

Mrs. Reiff was born Mary Sauer, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Haffner) Sauer, at Greenville, Ohio, on March 25, 1830. She came to this county with her parents when a girl of seven and has lived here for eighty years.

She was married on July 16, 1850, to Jerome B. Reiff, their marriage taking place in Wells County. Mr. Reiff preceded her in death, passing away on July 2, 1897. They were the parents of eight children, of whom six survive, as follows: Mrs. Sarah Ellen Sunier, wife of Jesse Sunier, Bluffton; George E. Reiff, Bluffton; John Henry Reiff, Geneva; Mrs. Emma Banning, Farmland; Lewis Reiff, Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Mary Kiser, Bluffton. The deceased children are Mrs. Louisa Wallace and Charles William Reiff.

All of Mrs. Reiff's brothers and sisters have preceded her in death.

The decedent was a member of the Evangelical church.

The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the home of George Reiff, 1124 West South street, and the interment will be at Salem.

Rev. E. S. Hinshaw, of Lynn, will have charge of the funeral ceremonies.
