Edith Viola (Hogue) Bragg, 92, of Brighton Township the past 62 years, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 20, 2011, while surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born February 11, 1919, in Vanport and was the daughter of the late Cooper A. Hogue and Senia Etta Anthony Hogue Merriman and Walker G. Merriman. She was a member of the Four Mile Presbyterian Church, Ohioville, where she had been the oldest living member. Her involvement in the church was as a member of the Christian Service Class, had taught Bible School for children, was a deacon and served on the prayer chain of the church. Edith had formerly worked at Reed's Market for 13 years.

Surviving are three children, John W. (Connie) Bragg, Ohioville; Edith J. Bragg, Brighton Township, and Ardith J. (Dana) Carpenter, Lewisville, OH; four grandchildren, Jennifer E. Bragg, Mars; Kenneth J. (Julie) Bragg, Brighton Township; Erich G. Carpenter, Shadyside, OH, and Jamie B. Schaeffer, Brighton Township; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Elijah and Gabriel Bragg; sister-in-law, Julia Hogue, Glenwillard, and several nieces and nephews.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, John Parks Bragg, on September 11, 1996; a granddaughter, Rachel Bragg; brothers and sisters, Senia Hogue, Charles F. Hogue, Mildred E. Hogue Farmer, Lula S. Hogue McPherson, Frank A. Hogue, Leora E. Hogue Hall, Alice Irene Merriman Thomas, Mary Jane Merriman Karver, Betty M. Merriman, Ada M. Merriman Cercone and Dolly G. Merriman Kugel.

Friends will be received Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the TODD FUNERAL HOME, Beaver, and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. in the Four Mile Presbyterian Church. Her Pastor, Reverend Martin Williams, will officiate.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
