LEXINGTON, N.C. -- Mrs. Catherine Jones Griffith, age 50, formerly of Richlands, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Richlands and was the daughter of Lora Mae Ritchie Jones of Richlands and the late Ewing Jones.
She had made her home in the Richlands area most of her life having moved to the Lexington area seven years ago. She was a bank teller for the Lexington State Bank and a former loan officer for Dominion/First Union Bank in Richlands. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Winston Salem, N.C., and a member of the Village Garden Club of Welcome, N.C. She was a Richlands High School Class of 1972 graduate and a graduate of SVCC Class of 1978.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Benny, Dennis, and Larry Jones.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, are: husband, David J. Griffith; daughter, Mrs. Jonathan (Sterling) Bollinger of Winston-Salem; son, Grant Griffith of Lexington; sister, Susan Jones of Gainesville, Fla.; two brothers, Ronnie Jones of Lebanon and K.C. Jones of Richlands.
Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Jones Griffith will be conducted Thursday, June 26, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Christopher Burr officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call after 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands.
