R. W. Stevens: Had Service Station
Robert W. Stevens, who owned and operated the Stevens Service Station at Bellevue and Walker before his illness, died yesterday afternoon at Kennedy Veterans Hospital, where he was admitted March 14. He was 40.
Mr. Stevens was born in Independence, Miss., and was an Army veteran of World War II. He moved to Memphis from Tate County, Miss., in 1947. He was a Baptist. His residence was 2049 Carr.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Marjorie J. Stevens; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Stevens of Independence; three brothers, Everett and James Stevens of Independence and Herbert Stevens of Pensacola, Fla., and his sister, Mrs. Vennie Rhodes of Senatobia, Miss.
Services at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Independence, Miss., Rev. Oliver Hood officiating. Burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Cosmopolitan Funeral Home in charge.
