Letha Oakey Goddard, 51, wife of Joseph M. Goddard of Vallejo, Calif., and former Idaho Falls resident suffered a stroke Wednesday and died Thursday in a local hospital. She had been in Idaho Falls for the last two weeks visiting with relatives.

She was born Feb. 24, 1917 at Plano, Idaho, the daughter of George Oakey and Josephine Brown Oakey, and received her elementary education at Plano, graduating from the Edmund High School in the Plano area.

She entered a local beauty school in Idaho Falls in 1935. Since graduating from the beauty school she continued her beauty career in Idaho Falls, St. Anthony, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

On December 20, 1947, she married Joseph M. Goddard in Idaho Falls. Goddard is in the US Navy and in September of 1950 the couple went to California where he was stationed.

She is survived by her husband and two stepchildren, Jack M. Goddard and Mrs. John (Susan) Dyster, both of Ogden, Utah and six grandchildren.

She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Josephine Oakey of Idaho Falls and by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Jay H. Steele, Plano; Mrs. Harold L. Babbitt, Mrs. George Monson, Mrs. Melvin Hyman, Mrs. Elmer Elg, Mrs. Davis Lemons, all of Idaho Falls; Wendell Oakey, Plano; and Raymod Oakey, Rexburg.
