Howard Lowell Boardman, of Fresno went to be with the Lord. Howard was born in Porterville, California.
He graduated from Lindsay High School in 1947, and received a degree from College of the Sequoias in 1949.
He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia "Pat" Givan in 1950, and they had five children.
Howard was employed by Ford Machinery after college and in 1955, began work for Chevron Chemical in Sebastopol and retired in 1986, after 31 years in sales. Howard "never met a stranger" or a car he didn't try to fix.
He loved mechanics, working in his yard, fishing, especially catching those salmon at Shelter Cove, and his one trip to Alaska. He especially loved camping and RV-ing for over 25 years. He visited every state except one with his wife beside him reading or knitting.
He was active in SIRS, Las Palmas Ponderosa Lodge, Scottish Rite and Tehran Shrine. He so enjoyed his family and friends. He loved cooking for family gatherings and weddings. No one could beat his "Eggs ala Goldenrod", the family glue, or his mashed potatoes.
The family would like to thank the physicians at Kaiser, especially Dr. Trinh, the staff at Golden Years II and St. Agnes Hospice for their loving care these past few weeks.
He is survived by Pat, his wife of over 58 years; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Taylor and David, Heather Acree and Marty; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Boardman and Mary, Tim Boardman and Anna, Tom Boardman and Mendi; grandchildren, Heather, Michael, Azure, Cassandra, Howard, Laura, Alex, Morgan, Alyssa, Briana, and Cole; great-grandchildren, Ava and Owen; and his twin brother, Hayward and his wife Marilyn.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Karraker Chapel at Northwest Church on Friday, March 13, 2009, at 12:00 noon.
