Benjamin Franklin Simmons
Born 27 Oct 1857
Died 12 Jan 1926
Son of James C. Simmons and Celia Anna Yates
Husband of Julia Josephine Entrekin

Birth date from:
Benjamin Simmons Bible transcript; privately held by Michele Lewis (Harlem, Georgia). 1999; Benjamin Simmons' family Bible was in the possession of Rev. Norman Hilton Entrekin. After he died in 1999, his wife Mary agreed to provide a transcript of the family pages but would not allow the Bible to be photocopied. Mary died in 2002 and the whereabouts of the Bible is now unknown.

Death date from:
Mississippi State Department of Health, death certificate 6131 (1926), Frank Simmons; Vital Records, Jackson.

He was a skilled woodcarver and carved the wooden markers in this cemetery.

This is an unmarked grave. Please see the general information about the Frank Simmons Family Cemetery which is very interesting.

Data based on Bible records, census records and a family history written in the 1950s (when people were still alive that had first hand knowledge).

Also, the following book was used:

Lamar County Heritage
Leonard L. Slade, Sr., compiler
Gateway Press, Inc.. Baltimore, MD, 1978

I spoke to Mr. Slade several times before he died in 2007 at age 83. He too was old enough to have spoken to people that had first hand knowledge.
