Charlotte (Adair)Salladay, departed this life at her home near Derwent on Thursday about 10 o'clock, 53 years and 20 days. She enjoyed good health until a few months ago when she was striken with typhoid fever, though other afflictions, which later appeared, were the immediate cause of her death. She was patient throughout her sickness, always cheerful. Mrs. Salladay was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Adair and has been a life-long resident of Guernsey county, Valley township.

She had three brothers and two sisters, three of whom preceded her in death, leaving Mrs. Almyra Davidson of Myrtle Point, Ore, and W. J. Adair of Pleasant City.
On Sept. 13, 1880, she was married to Jacob Salladay. To them were born two sons; Waltz Sumner of Pataskala, Ohio and Roy Wesley of Cambridge, also two grandchildren.

She was a faithful wife and devoted mother as well as a neighborly neighbor. When yet a young girl she made a profession of faith accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, and united with Bethel M. E. Church of which her parents were members. In 1891 she transferred her membership to Harmony Ev. Lutheran Church in Hartford of which her husband was and is a member. Here she retained her membership until she was taken.. always faithful in attendance at the services and supported the church at home and abroad with her means. The years of her life were not many yet they were filled with life's usual experiences and passed the way of all mankind. Funeral services in charge of her pastor, Rev. J. Walter Bressler, were held at her late home on Sunday morning at 9:30, interment in Plesant City Cemetery.
