Genevieve V. Abegglen, age 85 of Stetsonville passed away peacefully on Friday Jan 7, 2022 at home under the care of her daughter and son in law, Black River Industries and Aspirus Hospice Comfort and Care for the past 3 months.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, Jan.13, 2022, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery II in Medford. Visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 Noon. Pallbearers are Kayla & Doug Albrecht, Joshua & Nicole Brown, Jacob & Jennifer Brown, Daniel Brown, and Katie Gjelhaug.

Genny was born Feb 1, 1936 the daughter of Leo and Hildegard (Ohlinger) Apfelbeck Sr. in Colby. She attended St Mary's Catholic School and Colby High School. Genny moved to Chicago with her sisters working as a telephone operator and typist. On May 14, 1960 she married Alvin Abegglen and moved to the family farm in Deer Creek.

She is the mother of Dawn (Paul) Klingbeil, Diane (James) Brown, Debra Abegglen (deceased). Loving grandmother of Kayla (Doug) Albrecht, Joshua (Nicole) Brown, Jacob (Jennifer) Brown, Daniel Brown and special friend Katie Gjelhaug.

Genny was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville and presently of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. She was a member of Catholic Financial Life and participated in Church activities.

She enjoyed working for Stetsonville Centennial Hall, Medford and Colby Café, and on the family farm.

Genny devoutly prayed the rosary. She treasured her time with her grandchildren. Genny enjoyed walking, gardening, reading, writing letters, typing, the Packers, coin collecting, feeding carrots to Sparks the horse, and her beloved cat.

Genny is survived by her beloved husband Alvin, daughters, grandchildren, sister-in-law Carol Apfelbeck, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Hildegard Apfelbeck and siblings Francis and

Carna (Johnson) Apfelbeck, Mary and Arnold Butenschoen, Adeline and Norbert Dahlke, Mildred and Ray Juedes, Stella and Frank Dobner, John and Wanda Apfelbeck, Theresa and Joseph Rindt, Monica and Earl Biter, Leo Jr (Sonny) Apfelbeck, Pearl and Vern Nosbisch, and Joseph Apfelbeck.
