Elmer L. Layton Of Fort Pierce, Fla. Passed away July 20, 2011 at Treasure Coast Hospice. He was born at 24 Miller St. Highlands NJ. He was a life long Waterman,Commercial Fisherman. Elmer was a veteran of World War 2, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp. Stationed on the Island of O'ahu, Wheeler Field, Schofield Barracks, and Kahuku Air Field. Member of the Amercian Legion Post 143 Highlands NJ. And was a Exempt member of the Highlands Fire Dept. Serving 40 years. Also a Life member of the Highlands Baymans Association. Survivors include son, Leslie E.Layton and wife Colleen. 2 grandchildren, Thomas and Laura Lynn. Preceded in death by parents Gilbert Layton and Blanche Layton-Taylor-Layton. Son Craig, brother Gilbert; and sisters Dena Layton-Parker,Rosemary Layton-Beach, Jennie and Sarah Taylor.
