UNADILLA FORKS
MRS. WILLIAM D. BROWN
Florence E. Howard, wife of William
Dorland Brown of Hackley
Street, passed away at St. Eliza-
beth!s Hospital, Utica, early this
morning following an operation
which she underwent last Saturday
and from which she failed to rally.
Every means know to modern med-
ical science was resorted to in an
effort to save her life, but to no avail.
The end came very quickly and peace-
fully.
Mrs. Brown was born in the town
of Brookfield July 1, 1888, daughter
of Hudson and Elizabeth Atkinson
Howard. October 11, 1911, she was
united in marriage to Mr. Brown,
Who survives, together with her mother
and two little daughters, Elizabeth
Angeline and Janet Wanzer;
their only son, Howard, preceded his
mother to the glory land a little over
a year ago. His passing was a great
shock to his mother, from which she
never fully recovered.
Mrs. Brown was educated in the
Bridgewater High School and the
Oneonta Normal. She taught for
several years at Bridgewater and
Leonardsville. She was a member
of the Uhadilla Forks Baptist
Church, the Winfield Scott Chapter
of the D. A. R., the Book and Studv
Club, and was one of the W.W.Q.
advisors. She was a beautiful character,
retiring and unassuming, and
had a host of friends which her real
worth had won. She was a real
mother, .and it would seem to us that
her little family could ill afford to
lose her.
The funeral will be held from her
late home Saturday at 2 o'clock, her
pastor, Rev. R. W. Roberts, officiating.
Burial will be in the local cemetery.
