Farrell William Alvord, age 59, our father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, passed away April 26, 2004 at home in Taylorsville. Born February 6, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Mearl P. and Thelma Griffiths Alvord.

Farrell worked for many years in the transportation industry where he loved driving truck and seeing the country. Dad was an avid sports fan but most of all he enjoyed watching the Running Utes play. He never missed his kids ball games, and enjoyed going to games with his son, Jake. Dad enjoyed taking his children swimming and to play golf. The holidays were always a very special time.

To our dad, we all love you and will miss you dearly. So sorry it took losing you to realize how much you were truly loved.

He is survived by his children: Michael (Sherrie) Alvord, David Alvord, Marcie Miller, Jodi (Bryan) Bruner, Jacob Alvord and Whitney Alvord; 11 grandchildren: his parents; and his sister, Sharlene Alvord. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Tyler Alvord.

Memorial services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain Vista United Methodist Church, 3200 W. 8931 S. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mountain Vista United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
