Harry Denman Smith was born in Hamilton, Missouri, on January 22nd, 1866. He was the son of Philander Smith and Sarah Ann Allee. His father was a furniture dealer.
Harry studied in the University of Missouri, and later in the Kansas State University. He graduated from the latter in 1887 with the degree of A.B. Later still he received the degree of A.M. from Transylvania College, and the degree of B.D. from Yale Divinity School.
Brother Denman was minister of the following churches of Christ in succession: Olathe, Kan.; West Bide, Kansas City, Mo.; Eureka Springs, Ark.; Marshall, Mo.; Ninth Street Church, Hopkinsville, Ky.; Central Church, Dallas, Tex., and the University Place Church, Enid, Okla. Mr. Smith was for a time a teacher of the Bible and evidences of Christianity in McLean College, Hopkinsville, Ky., and professor of practical theology in Phillips University, Enid, Okla.
Harry married Lucy M. Christy (1861-1942), on October 29th, 1890, in Johnson, Stanton County, Kansas. The couple had one daughter, Christy Allee.
On January 26th, 1933, in Enid, Oklahoma, Harry Denman Smith departed this world for his eternal reward.
