Joe Oliver Benavídez, age 68, beloved and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend, was called home to be with the Lord our Savior on Monday, October 28, 2002, while surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born in Tomé, NM to the late Hipolito and María Benavídez.
Joe is survived by his loving children, Eddie Benavídez and his wife, Christine, Mary Benavídez, Geraldine Martínez and her husband, Pres and Coeli Gonzáles, his precious grandchildren, Joshua, Amanade Benavídez, Gabrielle Montoya, Vanessa Martínez and her fiancé, Chad Morris, Jennifer Martínez and Tara Trujillo, his great-grandchildren, Elijah Morris, four brothers, Joe Benavídez, Sosimo Benavídez, Victor Benavídez and Danny Benavídez, two sisters, Dome Sánchez and Polly Trujillo and her husband, Eusebio, companions, Lucille Estrada and Helen Perea, former wife, Rose Manuel and nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Joe will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Final viewing will be on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Bernalillo Cemetery, Bernalillo, NM. Casket bearers will be Joshua Benavídez, Pres Martínez, Danny Benavídez, Victor Benavídez, Anthony Sánchez and Ronnie Gutiérrez. Honorary Bearers will be all of Joe's grandchildren.
