Dale Lee Bawks, 71, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan died unexpectedly on Monday, November 29, 2004 at his beloved hunting camp in Pickford. He was born November 16, 1933, in Pickford, to Frank and May Bawks.

He was a life-long resident of the area and graduated from Pickford High School in 1951. Dale married Ardith Wallis on May 9, 1953, at the Pickford Presbyterian Church. He began his career as a car salesman at Wieneke Soo, and later managed Soo Motors. He was a U.S. mail contractor for 30 years until his retirement in 1996.

God gave Dale many gifts - he was a generous and loving man to all who knew him. His greatest joy was being with family and friends; he enjoyed telling a good story, giving encouragement, and making people smile. His favorite pastimes were hunting, snowmobiling, golf, his ATV, and watching sports. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the Dafter Lions Club, and the Sault Elks.

Dale is survived by his loving wife, Ardith; one son, Roger (Judy) Bawks of Sault Ste. Marie; three daughters, Rhonda (Steven) Fink of Petoskey; Joanie (Darby) Hanchera of Muskegon; Janet (Chad) Cardinal of Orlando, Florida; six grandchildren, Douglas and Andrea Bawks; Michael and Sarah Fink; Shelby Hanchera; and Travis Lee Cardinal. Dale's family included brother and sister-in-laws Jim and Beth Quinnell, and Bill and Carol Wallis of Pickford; Ginny (and the late Jerry) Wallis of Cadillac; Judy Wallis of Cadillac; and several nieces and nephews.
