OBITUARY :
MRS. MATILDA J. "TILLIE" "NANNY" (BARLUP) HENICLE, 81, of 12955 Scott Road, Waynesboro, died at 12:30 P.M., Monday, July 18, 2011, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital, following a stroke suffered on Saturday.

Born August 3, 1929 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Homer R. and Katharine I. (Koons) Barlup. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.

Mrs. Henicle graduated from Washington Township High School with the class of 1947. She later attended Shippensburg State Teacher's College, studying elementary education.

She and her husband, the late Floyd E. "Gus" Henicle, Sr., were married on October 8, 1940 in Winchester, VA. Mr. Henicle died on September 2, 1991.

Mrs. Henicle's was employed at Henicle's Market, Waynesboro, for 41 years.

She enjoyed reading and gardening.

She is survived by seven children, Floyd E. "Gus" Henicle, Jr., Barbara K. Wedekind, Robert L. Henicle, Richard A. Henicle, Thomas R. Henicle, Michael J. Henicle, and Patricia A. Fair, all of Waynesboro; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Isabelle R. Brechbiel.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 22, 2011, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Lin Smalec, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The American Diabetes Association, 1025 Connecticut Ave NW, Suite 1005, Washington, D.C., 20036.
