John was an Army veteran of World War II, and was employed as a technician at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 32 years before his retirement in 1976.
John is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Lionel Jean of Coventry; a grandson, Jason Jean of Coventry; a brother, Warren Scovell of Florida; two sisters, Carrie Scovell and Ruth Scovell, both of New Jersey; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept 17, 1pm at the Coventry Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Tpke (Rte. 44), with the Rev. Boyung Lee officiating. Burial will be in Coventry Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, 11-1pm just prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the United Methodist Church of Bolton, Boston Tpke, Bolton, CT.
