HOLLANDALE - Funeral services for Virgil Lee Sandifer Sr., 89, of Hollandale, a farmer and former Washington County supervisor, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hollandale Baptist Church.

He died Sept. 6, 2004, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Hollandale Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

He was a native of Wesson where he graduated from high school. He had been a resident of Hollandale for many years where he was engaged in farming for over 50 years. He served on the Washington County Board of Supervisors for 20 years, serving eight years as president. He also served on the Board of Directors of Guaranty Bank and Trust. He was a member of Hollandale Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Williams Sandifer of Hollandale; three daughters, Michie Sandifer Sullivan of Concorde. N.C., Jacque Sandifer Carpenter of Dallas, Texas, and Jo Sandifer Wylie and son-in-law, Mark Wylie, of Hollandale; one son, Virgil L. "Brother" Sandifer Jr. and daughter-in-law, Lisa Blalock Sandifer, of Greenville; one grandson, Virgil L. "Trey" Sandifer III; seven granddaughters, Lindsey Sandifer, Lauren Sandifer, Abbie Sandifer, Casey Perry, Leanne Stone, Gina Sullivan Fleming and Paige Sullivan; and one great-grandson, Austin Burris.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Children Village or the charity of the donor's choice.
