C."Eddie" Chatey, 53, of East Granby, beloved husband of Kimberly (Quagan) Chatey, died suddenly, Thursday, (July 14, 2011). Born in Hartford, son of Charles and Patricia (Cannon) Chatey of East Granby, he was a life-long resident. Eddie graduated from East Granby High School in 1976 and owned his own business in East Granby, Concrete Anytime, since 2001. Active in the community he was a member of the East Granby Fire Department for 35 years and served as Chief from 1994 to 2004. He was currently a member of the East Granby Planning & Zoning Commission and the Building Board of Appeals. Eddie loved his home town of East Granby, his family, and the many friends he made all over the region. He was the first to lend a hand or offer to help anyone who needed him. Besides his wife, Kim and parents, Charlie and Patricia, he leaves his daughters, Ashley I. Chatey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Emily C. Chatey of East Granby; four sisters Luanne Echert and her husband Lee of East Granby, Laurie Chatey of West Hartford, Pam Eisch and her husband Ted of East Granby, and Karen Chatey and her husband David O' Neil of Granby; nephews and nieces, Ted IV, Andrew, BJ, Sam, Becca, and Brittany; his mother-in-law Rita Quagan; two brothers-in-law Brian and Scott Quagan; and a host of wonderful friends whom he all considered special.
His family will receive friends Sunday, (July 17, 2011) from 3-7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, (July 18, 2011) 10 a.m. directly at Sacred Heart Church, Bloomfield followed by burial in Over the Mountain Cemetery, West Suffield. Contributions may be made to the McLean Foundation, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, 06070. The Carmon Windsor Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
