Alvina Mathilda (Abrahamson) Engdahl was born in Franconia Township July 8, 1880, daughter of John Abrahamson and his wife Margarita. As a girl she attended school in Franconia and was confirmed in Chisago Lakes Lutheran Church, Center City, June 1, 1919, having been baptized earlier. As a young lady she was employed for some time in Minneapolis.
On October 29, 1904, Alvina became the bride of August Engdahl of Center City. The couple lived on a farm in Shafer Township until 1944, when they moved into Shafer village. Four daughters and three sons were given to this union all of whom survive their mothers passing. On April 12, 1951 August Engdahl departed this life, after which the widowed Mrs. Engdahl made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Ward of Minneapolis. She has been in good health until last Monday, a week ago, when she took ill. By the evening she was brought to the hospital in Minneapolis, where at 2:05 the following morning Tuesday, October Oct 9, 1963, she quietly passed way. She had come to the age of 82 years 3 months and 1day.
She was the last of her family to pass on, having been preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Gust Hammerberg of Franconia and Mrs. Edd Alexander of Portland, Oregon and Charles Abramson of Lindstrom.
Mrs. Engdahl is survived by her children: Five daughters, Irene and Ethel Engdahl of Minneapolis, Muriel (Mrs Blesi) of Wayzata and Eleanor (Mrs Ralph) Ward of Minneapolis and Lillian Engdahl of Miami, Fla, three sons, Ernest of Los Angeles, California, Elmer and Warren of Taylors Falls.
She is survived by six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two nephews.
Funeral services were conducted from the Chisago Lakes Lutheran church, Center City, Minnesota, Saturday, October 13, at 2:00 with Pastor W Burdette Benson officiating and Mr. Roger Crary served as organist, Mrs. Kenneth Barott was the soloist. Pallbearers were Roger Blesi, Gary Blesi, John Freed, Hilding Anderson, and James Lindberg.
Interment was in the Chisago Lakes Cemetery of the Chisago Lakes Lutheran Church, following the service
