Mr. Coonrod, a leader in the Asbury Methodist Church, had been employed by the General Electric Co., for 35 years and was in the order service department at the firm's 570 Lexington Avenue, New York office. He was a member and former president of the General Electric Men's Club.
A longtime member of Asbury Methodist Church Mr. Coonrod was on the advisory commission of the board of trustees of the church after many years service as a trustee. He was also a member of the official board of Asbury Church.
From 1933 to 1949, Mr. Coonrod served as treasurer of the Boy Rangers of America in Crestwood. A resident of the community for 25 years, he was born in Cohoes, N. Y., son of Charles Herbert Coonrod and Katherine Gillies Coonrod. He belonged to the Cohoes Masonic Lodge and Cohoes Chapter Royal Arch Masons.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hazel H. Gross Coonrod; a son, Robert Alexander Coonrod of the
Crestwood Lake Apartments, and a daughter, Helen Elizabeth Coonrod of South Euclid, Ohio.
