Charles Cooper Land Purchase Windy City Gaal added this on 5 Jan 2012 Illinois Public Land Purchase Records about Cooper Charles Name: Cooper Charles Section: SENE Price: 1300 Total: 52000 Date: 22 Mar 1865 Volume: 791 Page: 239 Type: RR Sect: 24 Township: 14N Range: 08E Meridian: 3 Acres: 4000 Corr-Tag: 0 ID: 455908 Reside: 000 >>> This looks to be Illinois, the time line is right the year 1865...need to get a copy from Lake County, Il.to prove this was the Cooper land.END If this is the land, When I visited (1980's sometime)his home on Allanson Rd. That land had all ready been split up and houses built on it. Looks to be 4000 acres in 1865 1-3-12 Allie

Charles was a farmer in England, Canada, Granville, N.Y and then in Libertyville,, Il. and later a well digger, in Libertyville, Illinois.

NEW 8/18/2001 still to be proven>>>>From the 1850 census FATHER of Charles Cooper... ROBERT COOPER B-D- 1810, MOTHER Martha B-D 1816 and some siblings it seems the family went to Canada and then down to the U.S. to Hartford, New York. Children, Charles 21 B-D 1829 born England, Lucine age 12 born in Canada-east and brother James 6 yrs born in Canada-East I think the East was Quebec. Charles then about that same time frame got married and lived in Granville, N.Y (Hartford, N.Y and Granville, N.y. are both in the same county Washington Cty. about 30 miles apart.) with his family Wife Sarah Mc Cue and their first born was Franklin 1855. So this really looks like a match. Tried to find the incoming ship from England to Canada but the English sailing records were not keep back that far..1837 or so. Will try again. date 8/2011

Obituary reads: Charles was born in Lincolnshire, England, Nov.4, 1824 and died at his home in Diamond Lake, Il. Dec.16, 1907. When a young man he moved to Washington County, New York, where he was married. Nearly forty-five years ago(Sarah Amelia Mc Cue) he brought his family to Libertyville township and has since lived within the borders of this town. He has lived much alone the last few years but since his health began to fail much more rapidly a few weeks ago his son Franklin, of Libertyville, was with him and cared for him to the last. Two sons and two daughters also survive him. The funeral was held at the late home Wednesday at 1 o'clock by Rev. H.F. Lawler. The body was laid to rest in the Diamond Lake Cemetery. end
