"Hub Woolsey Drops Dead at Farm Home
Funeral Services Held Tuesday for Life Long Resident of Atchison County
Funeral services were held here Tuesday afternoon at the Davis Funeral Home for Hub Woolsey, age 60, who dropped dead at his home east of Tarkio Saturday morning.
Mr. Woolsey was apparently in his usual good health early Saturday morning, and had not complained of feeling ill. He had been to the house about 9:30 to make inquiry from Mrs. Woolsey in regard to their son, Cpl. James Woolsey, whom they were expecting home on furlough from camp. When Mr. Woolsey failed to return to the house at noon time, Mrs. Woolsey became alarmed and immediately began looking for him. She found his lifeless body in the mule lot, where he had fallen. Doctors said he had been dead several hours.
Hub Woolsey, son of John and Rachael Woolsey, was born November 23, 1883 east of Tarkio, and lived his entire life on the farm where he died. He was married November 4, 1914 to Miss Ann Gaffney. Mr. and Mrs. Woolsey were the parents of two sons, who both survive. They are Staff Sergt. John W. Woolsey of Fort Jackson, S.C., and Cpl. James F. Woolsey of Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Besides Mrs. Woolsey and sons he also leaves one brother, Alvin Woolsey of Bethany; a sister, Mrs. Minnie J. Smith of Kansas City and a half sister, Mrs. Clayton Smith of Sedalia.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Father Fidells Goetz, and burial was in the Home Cemetery.
