NELSON CONVICTED OF WIFE'S MURDER
Newport, Ark, Dec. 15 (AP)--Deliberating three hours, a circuit court jury found Buford Nelson, a 26-year-old insurance salesman of Cordell, Okla., guilty of murder in the drowning last Oct. 10 of his wife, Mary Sue, and fixed his punishment at life imprisonment. He is to be formally sentenced Friday. Nelson smiled when the verdict was read, and grasped the hands of friends. The state had asked the death penalty.

IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE OF MARY SUE WILSON NELSON (By Mrs. Roy Lawrence)

The air was cool and the hour grew late
When the dear sweet girl was led to her fate.
By the strong arm of an ungodly man,
Twas on White river her life did end.

She has gone to her God,
She has gone to her home,
No more amid perils and error to roam.

Her eyes are no longer dim,
Her feet will no longer falter,
No grief will follow her on.

There is paleness, weeping and sighs below
For our faith is faint,
And our tears will flow.

There is a little churchyard
Where the mound may be found,
Where Mary Sue is sleeping
In cold and silent ground.

She was murdered by the one
Who called her wife,
She loved and trusted him
Tho he took her life.

He sowed the seed of his self desire,
He's reaping reward behind the prison bars,
He heard his trial in Newport one day
And a life sentence is what the jury gave.

No one act but is recorded
Not a word but has its weight,
Every virtue is rewarded
Murderers punished soon or late.

Alas for love for woman's true love,
Why woe like this must be
Hast thou seen a man that committed a crime
That was ever more cruel than he.

Thou canst not say she ever did wrong
This darling girl we knew.
O none could know her from her childhood up
And say this was not true.

She was a happy little school teacher
Teaching as she went along
Helping her dear widowed mother
Til this 'brute beast" came along.

There were others in this dirty scene
The money scheme you see
Tho God with his all-seeing eye,
He watched the other three.

The "brute beast" to the river went
They thought they were out of sight
And then "Boots" drowned the dear little girl
But God watched them that night.

And now they must the penalty pay
God knows what it will be
It may be in the lake of fire
Throughout eternity.

No matter what you're going to do,
Yes, whether wrong or right
When you live in this world
You are never out of sight.

O now she's gone forever gone
And left us here to weep.
'Til we are called to follow her
And in our graves to sleep.

But since she could no longer stay
To cheer us with her love,
We hope to meet with her again
In yon bright world above.

'Tis sweet to remember her smiles,
She gave as she went along
I know we will never forget them
They help to guide us all home.

Her mother can't rest from loneliness
She's weary night and day
May we all pay for this dear one,
That God will brighten her way.

In fancy I've caught a faint glimpse
Of a land where our loved ones are.

Behold I thought I saw her
A walking the golden streets
With all those beautiful children,
Whom some day we are going to greet.

Dear friends now look and listen
I thought I saw her hand,
A beckoning her dear mother
To come to the Summer land.

Love of ours whom we miss so much
Are you there, at the pearly gates,
To watch for us down the pathway
That leads home, soon or late.

Some day we're going to meet you
Some day God only, knows when
We will pass through the beautiful gateway
And be with our darling again.
