Lillie Kendall West was born on September 8, 1890 at Dresden, Texas. She departed this life February 22, 1945 at the age of 54 years. She moved to this community with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Kendall in 1901 and resided here until God called her home. She received her elementary education at Custer Bend. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University then located in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Custer Bend Baptist Church, which is now the Strong City Baptist Church. Since that time she has lived a very devoted Christian life.
She was married to Willie West September 29, 1909. She is survived by her husband and daughter, Mrs. Bruce Farni and granddaughter, Cherlye Leigh; her mother, Mrs. J.H. Kendall; five sisters, Mrs. Jesse K. Cross, Mrs. Mamie K. Warren; Mrs. Fred Cobb, of Norman; Mrs. Hugh D. Jobe, Devine, Texas; Mrs. C.E. Pyatt, Kingfisher; one brother Ray Kendall of Cheyenne. Those preceding her in death were her father, J.H. Kendall, and one brother, John Floyd Kendall.
Mrs. Wests' life has been an inspiration to all who knew her. She bore her sufferings patiently and always had a smile and a word of encouragement, for all with whom she came in contact. She lived a life of service to her church, family and friends.
Rev. Cost of Syre officiated at thes funeral, assisted by Rev. Trent of Hammon, and she was laid to rest in the Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Oklahoma under the direction of Tunnard's Funeral Home, Friday, February 23, 1945
