Born in South Hampton, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Carman and Bertha (West) Bird.
Edward was cook for many years and later worked in a senior's home in Oxford as a maintenance man.
He is survived by his wife, the former Irma McNutt; brother, Douglas, Ontario; sisters, Mildred MacAullay (John) Alberta; Dorothy and Florence, both of Ontario; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Leon, Kenny, George, Ralph.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday and funeral service 2 pm Tuesday, June 28th, all in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Pastor Michael Aud will officiate with burial to follow in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley.
Donations in Edward's memory may be made to a charity of choice.
