Deceased Name: FISHER, WANDA LUCILLE

Born March 6, 1920 in Whittier, California, Wanda passed away on September 14, in the house she helped build in Old Town 50 years ago. She joins her husband Jack who paved her way to heaven in May, for their 64th anniversary. Their home was filled with warmth and joy, known for Christmas parties, and playing games throughout the year.

Wanda grew-up in Missouri, the fifth of eight children. She eloped with Jack and came to San Diego in 1940, settling in Linda Vista and starting a family. In 1975 Wanda retired from CalTrans and traveled the world with her husband. Wanda was a devoted Christian throughout her life, working at the Tecate Mission and supporting many missionaries. She hosted Mennonites from throughout the world in exchange programs. She will be remembered as a competitive domino, card, and badminton player, and for her genuine interest in
the people around her.

Wanda is survived by her sister Wilda Askew; brothers, Dean and Tom Jones; daughter Emilie S. (Jonathan W.) Brosin and assumed daughter Shirley McQuerter; grandsons, David and Thomas Gent; great-grandchildren James, Juliette and Thomas Jr. and Jimmy Jones along with numerous other nieces and nephews, wonderful life-long friends and loving caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, please offer a donation in memory of Wanda Fisher to the Family Care Center of College Avenue Baptist Church, 4747 College Ave, SD, 92115.

A Graveside Service will be conducted on Friday, September 17, 10 a.m. Greenwood Memorial Park, I-805&Imperial Ave. sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com
