About 1940 she married her first husband Clarence Snowden Kimbro (1883-1950). Emma Dee had one child, Franklin Cordell Kimbro. Clarence died in 1950. Clarence's father was John Kimbro. He was a Civil War soldier serving as a scout for Nathan Bedford Forrest. He did service at Shiloh, Battle of Murfreesboro and in Virginia. His complete military record can be found in the Tennessee state Archives and Library.
