She was born on December 24, 1928 to Jacob and Elizabeth Altergott in Windsor, Colorado. On January 23, 1949 she married Fred H. Midcap and moved to the family farm near Hoyt, Colorado.
After graduation from Windsor High School, Ruth attended Denver Cosmetology School. She became a homemaker and she also worked at Wiggins High School and the Wiggins CO-OP as a bookkeeper. In 1980 Ruth moved to Wiggins and resided there until her death. Her interests included fishing, bowling, and gardening. She was a member of Summit Baptist Church in Wiggins. Ruth is survived by her sons, She had nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Altergott, her husband, Fred H. Midcap, and two grandchildren, Beth (Midcap) Taylor and Luke Midcap. Preceding her in death also were her siblings, Henry, Katherine, Jacob, Harry, and Bertha.
A Private graveside service will be held Saturday, July 9th, 2011 at the Hoyt Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Summit Baptist Church, 401 E. 2nd Ave., Wiggins, CO 80654. Contributions may also be sent C/O Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
