Born Mary Louise Elton on November 2, 1914 in Fort Benton, Montana to parents Oscar and Ida Elton. Mary Lou spent her early childhood years in Helena, Montana and then moved with her family to Spokane, Washington in 1929, where she attended and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. She then attended Washington State College in Pullman, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. During her college years, she met James L. Kimzey of Pullman, who was also a student at WSC. They were married on August 25, 1938, in Spokane, WA. Mary Lou and Jim settled in Pullman, where they lived until 1973, and where they raised their three children, Karen, Pat, and Mike. In Pullman, Mary Lou was active with the Kappa Alpha Theta Corporation Board, was on Vestry of St. James Episcopal Church, and was a member of Chapter DW of PEO. She also worked with the Cub Scouts, Rainbow Girls, and served on the Pullman Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. In 1973, they moved to Clarkston, Washington. In Clarkston, she was President of the Clarkston Golf & Country Club Ladies Association, serving two terms, and was the first woman president of the Clarkston Golf & Country Club Board in 1993-1994. She was also a member of Chapter AS of PEO in Clarkston. Mary Lou enjoyed golfing, bridge, needlework, and gardening. Mary Lou passed away in Spokane on September 22, 2006, after living with Alzheimer's disease for the past three years. Mary Lou's husband, Jim, passed away in 1992 and her daughter, Karen Damon, passed away in January 2006. She is survived by her two sons, Pat, who lives in Seattle, Mike, who lives with his wife, Debbie, in Harrison, Idaho; son-in-law, Dr. Dwight Damon of Spokane; grandson, Paul Damon and his wife, Kelley, of Spokane; and by granddaughter, Kylee Shintaffer and her husband, Kurt, of Seattle. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Paul and Kelley's children, Logan, Ella, and Gavin Damon. Private family services were held.
