Jesse Birt, 70, a well known retired Greenville salesman and former local groceryman, died at Wayne hospital here Saturday afternoon after a lingering illness.

Mr. Birt retired two years ago after serving as a sales representative in this area for the Laurel and Carr Consolidated Biscuit
company of Dayton more than 30 years.Earlier he operated a grocery on South Broadway here.

Mr. Birt, who resided at 108 E. Water Street, lived in New Weston prior to moving to Greenville. He was a member of the Church Of Christ, the Greenville Masonic lodge and UCT Council and the Scottish Rite in Dayton.

Surviving are his wife, Sara Ethel; a daughter, Mrs. Donald C. Osborne of Middletown; a sister, Mrs. Ada Snyder of Greenville and two
brothers, Hosea Birt of Greenville and Harry Birt of New Weston.

Services will be held at 2 P.M.. tomorrow at the Miller funeral home here with the Rev. Earl Lantz officiating.
Burial will in the Greenville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of services. A Masonic lodge of Sorrow is scheduled there at 7:30 P.M.. today.
