JOHN ALVIE BURCH OF HERMON DIES HERE
John Alvie Burch, 59, of Hermon, died at 6 o'clock this morning in the Galesburg Cottage hospital, where he had been a patient since Sept. 1.
Funeral arrangements were not made known here today.

FUNERAL HELD FOR JOHN ALVIE BURCH
HERMON - Funeral services for Alvie Burch were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church of Hermon, in charge of the Rev. Virgil Essex of Canton. Guy Sampson and Otis Williamson sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee."
Casket bearers were: Harry Bowden, Eugene Moore, Arthur Grice, Claire Shumaker, Emery Stegall and Lloyd Benson.
John Alvie Burch, son of John and Phoebe (Richmond) Burch, was born Aug. 18, 1881, on a farm in Chestnut township, Knox county, near Hermon. His early education was attained at Cornfield College, a rural school near his home.
In 1914, he married Miss Jessie Neece of Arkansas. To this union four children were born, one passing away in infancy. The children are: Roy, Nina and Juanita, all of whom reside at Springdale, Wash.
Mr. Burch had spent most of his life here in this vicinity. Twelve years were spent in Arkansas. He had been engaged in farming most of his life.
At the Cottage hospital in Galesburg death came to Mr. Burch, after a short illness, on the morning of Sept. 12.
His parents preceded him in death. Besides his children he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Susie Yerion of Winchester and Mrs. Hazel Horton of Hermon, also several nieces and nephews.
The following relatives and friends from a distance attended the funeral: Charles Horton of Muscatine, Ia.; Mrs. Susie Yerion of Winchester, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. David Carrol and son, Robert, of East Peoria; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Teel and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Kidder of Peoria.
