Two eldest daughters died within 12 days of each other in July/August 1851 from dysentery. Fanny aged 2y 8m 22ds and Minerva Almina aged 4y 6m 18ds. Two oldest sons, Wareham and Elansford, drowned while bathing in a pond June 6, 1854. It was then published in newspapers that Orrin was hospitalized because of his grief. In July 1859 Orrin's home was struck by lightning, everyone survived.
