South Bethlehem, Pa., June 12.—John Stewart Allam died Wednesday night after a brief illness, aged sixty-five years. Four years ago he fell from the front porch at his residence, the result that the spinal column at the neck was fractured. His case was one of great interest to the medical profession.
A frame was constructed to support the weight of his head, and by this means the man enjoyed comparatively good health and was able to walk around and follow the business of peddling fruits. The deceased belonged to the Grand Army Post at Carversville, Bucks county, having served as a soldier during the entire war in the Third Regiment, New Jersey Cavalry.
