Floyd left this life on July 12, 2011, at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs. He was born on September 20, 1930, to Edd and Martha Hawkins in Drumwright, OK. Floyd was a veteran having served in the Korean War. He came to Hobbs in 1954 and went to work for Phillips Petroleum and retired 35 years later. Floyd was very active in the Little League baseball program and the Babe Ruth baseball program for many years, affecting the lives of many young children with his quiet way. He loved to bowl, but his favorite pastime was fishing and boating. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

He is survived by the two loves of his life, his wife Bernice and his son Bill Hawkins of Hobbs; brother, Eddie Hawkins and wife Bettie (BJ) of Hobbs, brother, Lendell Hawkins and wife Cathey of Artesia, NM; a sister, Linda and husband Clarence Ball of Hobbs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and another brother, Bobby (Bob) Hawkins and sisters, Louise Blackburn and Elizabeth Bejeck.
