AGED RUTLEDGE MAN DEAD
John H. Adams, 84, Formerly of Millport, Buried Monday Afternoon.

John H. Adams, 84 years old, former well known resident of Millport for nearly a lifetime, died Saturday at his home in Rutledge, where he had lived the last three and one-half years.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Christian Church at Rutledge, conducted by the Rev. G. Lolin Eaton, pastor of the Christian Church of Memphis, and burial was in the cemetery at Rutledge.
He was the last of the Adams family, being the fifth child and third son of George and Elizabeth Hopkins Adams, who are dead, and he was born in Jennings County, Indiana, Feb. 9, 1863, being 84 years, 4 months and 19 days old at the time of his death.
Three brothers, Alexander, Harrison and George Adams, and two sisters, Nina, Mrs. W. H. Ewing, and Emily Susan Adams, are also dead.
He came with his parents, brothers and sisters to Knox County when 2 years old, later moving with them to Lewis County for one year, then returning to the Adams homestead near Millport, where he lived until going to Rutledge. He was in declining health for several years and critically ill the last week.
He united with the Millport Christian Church Oct. 19. 1876, under the ministry of the Rev. Hunter Phillips and has been an active and faithful member ever since.
He was married to Miss Artie Carter March 19, 1913, and one son, Robert Lincoln, was born to them. Mr. Adams is survived by his widow, the son, his daughter-in-law, Margaret, and two beloved granddaughters, Gwendolyn and Marjorie. Many nieces and nephews are left.
Relatives and friends from Quincy, Peoria, Streator and Chicago, Ill., and LaBelle, Knox City, Edina, Memphis, Kansas City and Columbia, Mo., attended the funeral.
