Levi is the son of Periz/Perry Clapp & Rhoda Smith. He married Lucy A. Boynton on 25 Aug 1851 at Woodstock, VT. He married Emma A. Harlow on 30 Mar 1872 at Bridgewater, VT. (Marriage & Death certificates)
---------------------------------------------------
Levi M Clapp died at his home in Willow Vale Sunday evening, Nov 27th , in the 80th year of his age, after a long illness of Bright's disease. He had been growing more feeble of late, but was confined to his bed only three days. When the end came it was as though he had fallen asleep.

Mr Clapp was born in Woodstock on May 24, 1831, son of Periz and Rhoda Smith Clapp, and passed nearly his whole life time in his native town. He followed the vocation of farming, except for a period of years, when he assisted William English in the manufacture of wooden rakes at the old rake factory at English Mills.

Mr Clapp was employed on the Billings estate continuously for more than 25 years. He was a man of ambition and ability and as a workman was one of the very best. His life was one of ceaseless industry until ill health interfered.

Mr Clapp was a quiet, unassuming man of excellent habits and was highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him. He cared little for society outside of his home, but in his home was always at his best.

Mr Clapp was married twice. His first wife was Lucy Boynton. One daughter was born of this marriage, Mrs George C Storey, now of Fremont, Nebraska. On Mar 30, 1872, Mr Clapp married Emma A Harlow. She died Mar 23, 1893. Five children were born of this marriage, Wilbur L Clapp of Wisconsin; Sarah E, now Mrs A.F. Maxham; Ida R, now Mrs W.G. MacCarty; Alfred S Clapp; and a son who died in infancy.

Mr Clapp is survived by two sons and three daughters, who will deeply miss the passing out of a kind and loving father; also by two sisters, Mrs Almira Spaulding and Mrs Gilman of Woodstock, and a brother William Clapp of Nebraska. The older sister, Mrs Spaulding, has been a member of Mr Clapp's home in Willow Vale for many years and they have been devoted companions in their declining years.

The funeral was held at the home in Willow Vale Thurs afternoon, Dec 1, at two o'clock, and was largely attended by neighbors and friends, the Rev H.L. Canfield officiating. Miss Harvey and Mrs Winslow sang several beautiful duets during the service. The floral tributes from relatives and friends were elaborate and very beautiful, giving evidence of the high regard of neighbors and many friends for the deceased and of their sympathy for those who remain. Interment was in the family lot at Prosper. [Spirit of the Age, Woodstock, VT, 10 Dec 1910, Sat, Page 3]
