DAVID SCHMIDT DEAD
David Schmidt, a farmer living ten miles southeast of Olpe, died of pneumonia Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his home. Mr. Schmidt was 80 years old.
Funeral services for David Schmidt, a farmer, who died Tuesday afternoon at his home, 10 miles southwest of Olpe, were held Thursday afternoon in the Lutheran church, 7 miles southwest of Olpe. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery near the church.
Mr. Schmidt was born September 30, 1846, in Rosenberg, Grunau, Russia. In 1868 he was married to Miss Katherine Rohberg, and to them were born three children. Mr. Schmidt's first wife and children preceded him in death. On November 2, 1876, Mr. Schmidt married Miss Wilhelmina Rathke, and to them were born 10 children, five sons and five daughters. In 1878 the Schmidt family came to America and settled near Yanktown (sic), S. Dak. Twelve years later Mr. Schmidt and his family moved to Palmdale, Calif., and in 1898 they moved to near Olpe.
Mr. Schmidt is survived by Mrs. Schmidt, four sons, four daughters, 22 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
