Obituary from The St. Clair County Republican, Osceola, St. Clair, MO, Thursday, May 25, 1922:

OBITUARY

David Morella was born in West Virginia February 26, 1860, died at St.
Margaret's hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, May 12th, 1922, age sixty-two years, two months and twenty-two days.
With his parents he came to Missouri when a very small child, first settling in Clinton, and afterwards moved to Osceola and lived on a farm for a number of years. After reaching his majority he went to Kansas City where he resided until his death.
He served two years in the Spanish-American war. He had been in failing health for the past year but was not confined to his bed until about five weeks ago. He was a very patient sufferer to the end. He knew that he could not get well and was ready and willing to go.
He leaves to mourn his departure two brothers, Charley of Ft. Scott, Kansas, Lowry of Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, and one sister, Mrs. H. Weber, Laredo, Mo.; three nieces, Mrs. Florence Higgins, Laredo, Mo., Mrs. Alice Ellington, Butler,
Mo., and Miss Christina Morilla, California; four nephews, Everett of Ft. Scott, Clarence and Ernest of California, and Walter Hurst, Kansas City, Mo., and a host of friends.
Short funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Mrs. C. L. Foster Chapel, 918-920 Brooklin, Kansas City, Mo. The remains were brought to Osceola Sunday, arriving on the afternoon passenger and short services were conducted
at the Methodist church by Rev. H. A. Howard of the Presbyterian church after which the remains were laid to rest in the Osceola cemetery beside his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Those accompanying the remains were Mrs. Weber, Mrs. Higgins and Vivian Weber, Laredo; U. L. Gray, Kansas City, Kansas, Everett E. Morilla, Ft. Scott, Kansas.
